Single-Family Homes
The building is for the use of one individual or family.
Problem / Situation
When the space available allows the construction of a building isolated from neibouring constructions. When owner activities are noisy or require space for storage outside.
Solution
When designing small houses, these patterns are particularly relevant:
  • Scale: simple obvious exterior form
  • Extreme contrasts in interior scale esp. vertically
  • Smaller and larger than normal fenestration
  • No more than two basic roof elements
  • Broad eaves
  • Quality materials
  • Multipurpose / overlapped shared spaces
